Day 1 - A new hope.....

Ahh the start of the project - you gotta love the feleing, the excitement.... oh great and the rain!!! I mean after 3-4wks of nice sunny weather, the day i start it has to rain.

But i didnt let that get me down, ive got a timke scale to stick to and im gonna have to work rain nor shine.

Fortunatly by the time i had finished cleaning the garage and moving things around the weather was better so i could make a start without getting too wet!

So the plan was stripping the car - as long as i got it stripped out today, then tommorow i could start to get the internal wire loom out and clean the interior up.

Ive now done this so many times i belive ive become quite efficient at it, as by mid afternoon it has had - for all intese and purposes - all the interior trim now removed, the only things that are left are the internal loom, the heater and the steering column - but they can come out tomorrow.

Not bad considering to get to this stage with the red ESi took me 2 solid days of work lol!

Being mid afternoon i made a start on removing some of the sound deadening, im not going to remove it all for now, the weather is too warm and humid so instead of chipping off it just melts and goes mushy, so ill leave that till the autumn when its colder - this is when i removed it from the esi - and it was a much easier job.

However it didnt stop me removing the rear section, it just need sanding down and spraying :)

So i had a little clean up, had a bite to eat, then decided to make a small start under the bonnet, so i removed the front bumper, which has held in with all the wrong kinds of fittings - grrr this annoys me muchly! as well and the front head lights and indicators.

I also removed the engines intake piping and filter box - then finding that due to them having an intake feed from the wing, they dont have the hole that goes to the front bumper - a problem when i wanna use a std intake box etc - so dremel to the rescue!

So thats pritty much day one over with, i worked from 9am till about 6pm today, before i was totaly shattered. Im happy with the progress so far, but theres a heck of alot still to be done. Tommorrow im ment to be getting some help (now all the hard work is done lol) so hopefull more piccys will get taken at the least, and the car can get a good clean inside :) then if all goes to plan the D13 can come out monday and then its a case of starting on the hubs, fuel lines, brake lines, fuel tank etc all over - and thats when the fun really starts!

Thanks for reading!
